Magazines For A Doctor's Office Waiting Room

How many times have you gone to your doctor and while waiting to be called in, you just want to pick up a magazine to pass the time.

I've experienced much too often that my doctor, or their staff, never put any thought into the selection of reading material for their patients.

The magazines that are used for passing time in a waiting room should cover a variety of interests. It's a known fact that people will feel more relaxed with something to do.

A doctor's patients come from all professions and they have many different hobbies and interests. These things should be considered.

I also have found a lack of magazines when visiting a doctor. So I started saving my old magazines just to donate them on the next visit. Just think of the humor behind this...as if doctors needed a donation from their patients.

Nevertheless, it serves me two purposes. I get to have something to browse through even though they were my own magazines. And I get to recycle them, which makes me feel better about the environment.

But what about the doctor? I bet they need some guidance with this. Especially if they are not considerate of their patients sitting there with nothing to do.

Magazines found in a doctor's waiting room will vary depending on the type of office it is. Some specialists will attract certain patients and it's important to consider this when deciding on what magazines to provide.

Gynecologists will be better off with woman's magazines. Orthopedists may want to place sports magazines in their waiting room. You want something that will pacify patients while they wait, no matter who they are. Children will obviously require magazines that relate to their age.

Amazon is a great tool for searching for magazines. Yes, Amazon sells magazine subscriptions.

If you want to know names of magazines for a doctors office, you can browse Amazon just to see what exists. I discovered that no matter what the interests are of your patients, there is a magazine just for that interest.

It's a great place to go to find little known magazine on various topics or to price-compare well-known magazine. And I found that they have the best deals as well. You may want to do your entire magazine subscribing on Amazon from now on.

The list at the right is only a small sample. There are many more that Amazon has available and at discount prices. There are so many choices that you should have no problem finding the right magazine...

Common magazines I often see in doctor's waiting rooms are "Entertainment Weekly" and "People Magazine."

“Popular Science” or “Popular Mechanics” will be enjoyed by those interested in science or mechanics.

“Time Magazine” or “Better Homes and Gardens” are good general topic magazines to cover all bases.

“Men’s Health” or “Women’s Health” for people who care about their well-being.

If your patients include young kids, “National Geographic” has a special version called “Little Kids.” And I remember when I was a child I loved reading “Boy’s Life.” It's still around too.

Those who are business savvy may like a subscription to “Business Week” or “Kiplinger Magazine.”

For those who like to stay abreast of the news, you can get “US News” or "Newsweek."

You will not run out of ideas. There are magazines on gardening, hobbies, sports, shopping, drawing, knitting, quilting and other crafts, watercolor, eating well, spirituality, music, real estate, travel, and history.

The list goes on. You can find magazine subscriptions for lovers of dogs, cats, birds, motorcycles, bicycles and cars.

I found Amazon to be a goldmine for magazines, and with some of the best deals.
