Spending Too Much Time With Your PC Computer

A tongue-in-cheek comparison to a real person in our lives...

Working with my PC is a big part of my life. It fulfills all of my needs to accomplish what I want to get done. It helps me be better at what I do and live life to the fullest.

My PC is not judgmental and approvingly lets me be in control, and do things my way.

We all have a close relationship with our home PC, Mac, or laptop. Who else do we spend so much time with? Endless hours tapping away. Losing track of time staring into a color-splashed screen.

Of course there are times when we become frustrated with it. For one reason or another, it mistreats us and causes us grief. But each and every time we know the truth that it is not done maliciously.

It does not have a mean bone in its body, or should I say, a mean bit in its circuits. Our PC system is sometimes just a little buggy or needs special attention to keep it on its best behavior.

It's always there to support us and help us any way it can. We turn to it for guidance. We turn to it for management. We turn to it for assistance.

We have come to expect it to correct our spelling and grammar. At least when we allow it, and put those capabilities to good use when we work on our PC.

It saves us from long trips to the mall when we need to get a gift for a friend, by guiding us through all the merchandise imaginable on Amazon or wherever.

In addition to commerce, our PC computers interface with our bank when we need to transfer money or pay a bill. No need to leave the house on a cold snowy winter day.

It offers immediate suggestions when we are troubled with the unknown. And it helps us do our research online to find the answers we seek without leaving home.

Our PC shows us the world through its own the eyes. And even brings us down to level ground when we are lost, to show us a life worth living.

We are faithful to our PC and never even think of another. The only time we may turn to another is when our PC can no longer perform, and passes on to join other PCs in the sky.

And even then, we grieve for some time the loss we endure. For our loyal PC has taken with it some fond memories that can never, ever, be reconstructed.

Nevertheless we take it for granted and always expect it to be there for us. Not being able to comprehend the meaning of life.

It continues to honor and respect us without the desire to feel self-worth or put its own needs before ours. Unless, of course, it’s hungry for power when we have a blackout. Or its laptop battery is run down. But then again, we can’t ask for more than we expect of ourselves. Right?

Hey, think about it. We turn to our dependable PC whenever we need attention or support in any way. If we need to clear up something that’s troubling us, or find some way to relate to it, how often do we spill our guts out to our PC? Searching for answers.

We share our most intimate secrets with it. Typing long paragraphs to be used for an article or a blog. Or maybe just to be left between the two of us in secret. My PC and me.

Isn't that how we should feel about the real important person in our lives?

Hi Glenn:

I never thought that it would come down to this-"My PC and Me" But I have found a new love myself- essential in completing many tasks that you had mentioned in the article. We would without a doubt be lost without our computers. And you know if it weren't for those pc's or laptops for example. We in turn would not be able to write the articles we do here on hubpages, without its help. In addition we could say we, or most of us are, addicted to our computers, just like most of us here are addicted to hubpages. However I do not intend to spill my guts too soon over my laptop. ): Voted up and interesting and thanks for the read.

Thank you everyone for all your positive feedback on this. Sometimes I get into these humorous moods to lighten up on my more philosophical Hubs.

Hi This is a nice story. Small things actually teach us a lot if we observe them or consider them as real characters in life. Computer is really one like that with whom we spend most of the time in our life. An Interesting hub :)
