Solar Powered Products That Are Useful Around The Home
By Glenn Stok
The solar industry presently has problems as a solution for reducing home electric bills...
- Rebates and tax credits are being eliminated.
- There are scandals, such as Solyndra declaring bankruptcy just after receiving over $500 million from the Obama administration.
- And China makes solar panels cheaper than they can be made in the U.S.
But there are solar powered gadgets available today at low cost that can be used as alternative energy products around your home.
These devices don't need to be installed, don't need government aide to purchase and don't need financing.
If you're not quite ready for solar panels on your roof but you want to take advantage of the sun, you can still enjoy solar energy savings in other ways.
I'm going to show you some common products that we use around the home that have solar powered alternatives to reduce the cost of using them.
There are many low cost products available today that provide important needs using renewable energy that you never have to pay a penny to use.
Solar products for home use serve well to replace their energy-hogging counterpart for important tasks we need everyday. Such as fans, pumps, and portable rechargers.
There even are solar electric toys. These toys are not only fun for children, but they make unique gifts that are educational as well.

The Solar Charger will power your cell phone, your MP3 player, your iPod and more. It has a built in lithium-ion rechargeable battery that you can charge simply by leaving it out in the sun, or via a USB port on your computer.
You might want to get one of these for yourself if you travel. But at the price, it makes for a unique gift if you have trouble deciding what to get for someone's birthday or for a holiday gift.

Attic fans can be costly because they run often throughout the summer and increase your electric bill.
A solar powered attic fan will pay for itself in no time.
Solar attic fans are manufactured to fit square openings, as shown in the top image, or round openings as in the middle image at the right.
There are even versions of solar powered attic fans that mount in your gable as shown in the bottom image.

marstoblog, I think you'll like the products. The car window vent works well keeping the car cool when parked under a hot sun with no shade. Thanks for your comment and for following me. Nice reviews, Glenn. Do you have any of these products?
Debby, A friend has the car fan. And I gave the solar baseball cap to a friend for her boy. They both work great. Thanks for asking and for reading about this.
I'll definitely look into the solar water pumps for my pond and the phone chargers. Thanks for the tips.
Sue, Thanks for stopping by and checking out these items.
Hi, Glenn. Those solar powered toys are very unique. I'm going to get me some as Xmas gifts. If I can find the strength to give them away, that is. :)
Glenn. These solar powered gadgets are pretty cool, I think I'll buy some for holiday gifts. Thanks.
Love all your ideas Glenn, but I want to know if there is a solar power plugin device, which would allow me to do pyrography artwork in my backyard. I do not have any plugins in my house, and I hate the smell of the wood burning, which has reduced the number of pyrography projects I do. A solar powered plugin would solve this problem for me, but I cannot see to find any solar plugged in devices that would allow you to just plugin regular household devices.
SweetiePie, There is a solar generator that provides 1800 watts but it's expensive. Over $2000. Search for the PowerSource1800. I have no idea about the quality of this product. A better solution is to use a magnifying glass to burn the wood. Solar pyrography can be safely done outside without the requirement for electricity. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment and question.
