My HubPages Support Topics Table Of Contents

81

By Glenn Stok

Over the past two years that I've been writing on HubPages, I have written a number of Hubs to help other Hubbers.

I've listed all those Hubs below. But I have other topics of interest that you can find listed in my profile.

I am a self-learner and find it easy to figure out how things work. Once I understand something and put it to use, I like to share my knowledge with others. Take a look at the list below to see if I covered the topic you need.

One thing I love about HubPages is that there are a lot of people who have the same desire to share. I have also learned a lot from other Hubbers. If you don't find it here, remember that whenever you want to learn how to use one of the features of HubPages to write and publish your Hubs, there is a huge resource of information available to you.

You can search through the Learning Center with the link at the bottom of any page. And you can use the search field at the top right. A search will bring up Hubs written by other Hubbers who want to help you too.

Things are changing all the time and HubPages has a knack for keeping up with it. When Google changed their algorithm called the Panda Update, a lot of good Hubbers left too quickly when they saw their income drop. But since then HubPages made many changes that have helped tremendously.

Google only wants to provide meaningful, quality results when someone searches for something. The changes HubPages made gave the advantage to the people on HubPages who write high quality Hubs. But there are also reasons why high quality writers still are not recognized. That's because there are so many other considerations that need to be addressed. In my various Support Topics in the Hubs listed below, I cover everything I've discovered that works.

What I Did With My Progress Reports

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who knew of, and read, my Progress Reports, this is for you...

When I first started writing on HubPages back in October 2009, I decided to write monthly progress reports. The purpose of these reports was to give some helpful hints to other Newbies.

As time went on, things changed and I had to update prior reports in order to keep providing correct and useful information. Later I discovered that most of the progress reports were getting little traffic. Maybe because they got lost in the shuffle as I continued to write about other subjects. In addition, I came to realize that talking about my progress is somewhat useless to you.

But the important things I've learned and talked about in those reports are will always be worthwhile. In an effort to make the best information stand out so that you and others can find the helpful and useful subjects I spoke about, I changed the titles of the reports to reflect the actual topics. I also updated those Hubs to remove the unnecessary stuff about me. I also deleted some Progress Hubs that just were not useful for newbies.

The important stuff has been reworked, updated, and recreated in various Hubs that are listed above in this Table Of Contents.

This is a great list of contents Glenn, I have been too busy working to really get a handle on this Panda update, but I am sure that these will help me as well!

Rebecca, Thanks for stopping by. When I was reviewing all the Hubs I had written to help other Hubbers, I realized it might be a good idea to create a list of all of them. In the process of doing this I discovered a number of things I needed to modify in order to match the changes that took place since I first wrote these. So the end result was a positive thing, since all these Hubs are up to date now.

Hello Glenn, I would be grateful if you could voice your views on internal linking on HubPages.

I am referring to text links which blend with the content irrespective of what the topic being discussed is.

Would creating links pointing to another hub when finding a suitable phrase to anchor be beneficial?

Quite apart from that will the use of the links capsule be of greater benefit than selecting some phrase in the content to anchor and point to another hub?

I am only talking of internal links on HubPages where an author links from one hub of his to other of his hubs.

Thanks for your attention. Cheers!

Thank you for your great number of hubs trying to help writers. It is very timely because at the moment I am absolutely down. I keep sinking like the titanic. Ever since Google done it bit I tried everything to get back up again. Instead I sinking constantly.

quicksand - In my opinion, internal linking to your own hubs, or anyone else's for that matter, is fine as long as you link to a hub that's related to the same subject. If you mislead the reader by trying to get more traffic to unrelated hubs, your ranking will suffer. This will happen because those readers will click away real quick. The short length of time on that page indicates poor quality. Hope that answers your question.

Hello, Hello - I don't know why you are down. You write so well. It may be any number of other reasons. It's important that you review your HP stats on each Hub. And most useful are your Google Anaytics reports. Get that set up if you don't have it. You may discover what's wrong. It may be something simple like tags or keywords that are too short (making them ambiguous) or not removing links to other hubs that have been deleted. I had that happen as other Hubbers I had referenced no longer are here. Or maybe you are linking to another Hubber or other referenced site that is ranked low by Google. I find it to be a constant job to review these things and make adjustments. And I find the time I put into it pays off well.

Ktrapp - You're welcome. This is not all of my hubs, just the ones with help for Hubbers. I write other hubs focused on human interest subjects. Glad you are finding these help subjects useful Thanks for stopping by.

Wonderful Glenn. Being a publishing industry professional I can better realize the importance and usefulness of a TOC (Table of Content)for a book or a detailed document. Likewise, if anyone creates a TOC for his hubs that not only a good thing but also something innovative. I am enough inspired from you...I will create a TOC for my own hubs...Thanks very much.

Wow, this hub is packed with advice I could use to up my earnings, no doubt!!! This might be something to pursue, so I am going to bookmark your hub. With our current lack of income, it would be nice to generate a bit more income than I do... well, MUCH more income, haha. Thanks so much.

Storytellersrus, I give advice from my own experience. If I discover something that works to bring in more traffic or more money, I write about it. I decided it's helpful to put them all in one place with this TOC hub. Thanks for reviewing it and thanks for following.

Just came here from your hub on Comments because I thought my comment (hah!) would fit better here. I like the way you try to keep your hubs about writing hubs up-to-date. That's challenging when everything is constantly changing. Anyway, it would be really helpful to incorporate a revision date at the bottom of each hub. Otherwise, the age of comments makes the info seem old. On this hub, you have given some of your revision dates, but those should be added to the respective hubs.

BTW, I discovered how to figure out the last date you edited your own hubs (if you've commented on them). Go the Comments You Made page and search for its title. The revision date is in the far right column. If revisions haven't been too organized, this can help.

Howard, Good to see you stop by again. Thanks for the suggestion about putting the modified date in the hubs. I mention it when it's important, such as with the changes to the eBay addition to the HP Earnings program. But I will consider your suggestion and see how it may fit in elsewhere. I actually had used the modified date list in the "comments made" page in the past to check when I last changed something. Since then I keep my own list in order to see how Google reacts to modifications. They seem to send more traffic when things are modified.

Great hub, the changes that hubpages have made (moving to sub domains) has derisked the chances of the main hubpage site getting a ranking penalty but at the same time it has devalued a lot writer's content as they no longer get the hubpages domain authority. I think in the long term this will be a good move because it will weed out the lower quality content.

I have referred to your hub about claiming authorship on Google plus in the past. You have a fantastic list of hubs and I hope they reach out to everyone who is looking for the specific advice, tips and tricks you've written on. I'd recommend your hubs, especially those relating to hubbing, blogging and the internet in general to newcomers and established online writers alike.

moneyworks ~ I wouldn't worry about losing HubPages authority. Google also applies our own authority to our Hubs now that we are in individual subdomains. You are right, subdomains help keep us apart from lower quality that used to pull us down. We still do get authority from being on HubPages, as they are improving with Google recognition now that they are tougher on quality.

Princesswithapen ~ Thanks for recommending my Hubs. And thank for such a nice positive review.
